Developing the materials for the bath house revolved around the purpose of bathing. Materials should create an environment that is calm and relaxing for the users. At the same time, it should also be approachable and not too quiet.

Freemen’s School Swimming Pool

The new pool uses timber construction and offsite fabrication methods to create a sustainable building. The construction of the pool includes glue-laminated timber portal frame  (glulam) , braced with cross-laminated timber panels (CLT).

Reimagining the concept of public pool with a boxy precast-concrete shell as exterior while the ultra white interior features mosaic floors, ceilings, and walls of 20 by 20mm vitreous tiles.

Nouvel took poetic inspiration from natural lagoons and Roman baths, offering myriad ways to experience water

Timber material is applied to outdoor areas while tiles will be applied to the indoor areas. This helps to differentiate the different environment and also in relationship to the penetration of sunlight. The white tiles will help to brighten up the indoor spaces and the timber will
